Stay in your own self-contained 1-bed cottage with superb facilities in stunning countryside.
Situated in an elevated position in the pretty Somerset village of Compton Martin near Wells, Countryside HQ nestles in the beautiful Mendip countryside and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
With far reaching views of Chew Valley and Blagdon lakes, you're also close to Wells, Bath, Bristol and Weston-super-Mare.
This delightful accommodation is just a stone's throw from the extremely popular village pub https://butcombe.com/ring-o-bells-somerset/
Quintessentially 'Somerset', the village has its own pond, church, busy pub, Post office and village hall.
Some suggest that the village could date back to Roman times, due to its proximity to Bath.
We do know that the village appears on a Tudor Map which is believed to have been commissioned in order to settle a court dispute in London regarding grazing rights.
There's an ocre mine in the hillside just up from the cottage, and it is rumoured that this ocre would have been used in the paints used by the chronicler who created the Tudor map.
Woodview is in the Mendip Hills AONB with its rich and varied landscapes - from moorland to steep gorges and rich valleys, there's no wonder it's popular with those who love the outdoors.

This part of the West Country is extremely attractive for recreation, with plentiful walking, fishing, sailing, cycling, eating out and city tours to make the most of your visit. And you're just 15 mins drive from Bristol Airport.
There are local stores where you can obtain essentials with a selection of shops and eateries in nearby Chew Magna, about four miles away.
The cottage is completely self-contained. It's attached to the main house, Countryside HQ, which is occupied by your hosts, Rachel and Company Patterdale Terrier, Treacle.
We live on site, so you're likely to bump into us during your stay.
Rachel is co-founder of In Stitches, and she's known Sarah for around 20 years - they met through a love of scuba diving. Whilst Rachel often works at home, she does spend some time away on days when she's out teaching.
If you fancy a stay away that includes a creative activity that doesn't have to be sewing, we can add an experience to your stay by private arrangement. Bigger groups can be facilitated with accommodation at the village pub, depending on requirements.
Downstairs, there's a superbly equipped kitchen and living area with exposed beams and part-vaulted ceiling, original flagstone flooring, inglnook fireplace with log burner, exposed stone and wooden lintel - great for cosy nights in during the colder months.
You'll have the use of an American-style fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave, plus everything else you need to cook (pretty much) any meal of your choosing.
In addition to the Belfast kitchen sink, there's another sink with food waste disposal unit in the spacious pantry.
The bedroom and en-suite are accessed via a spiral staircase. There's a large double bed and a vaulted ceiling with characterful exposed beams, windows at floor height and velux rooflights with views across the fields front and rear towards Chew Valley and Blagdon lakes.
The bathroom has a spacious shower with superb water pressure; I'm told it's the best ever! There's a stained glass window feature built into the tiled shower wall and a shaving mirror with shaving point above the sink.
On sunny days, you are welcome to use the garden; I'll happily put out the patio chairs and a small table when the weather is fine.
There's have an outdoor socket for charging electric cars and I can make extra space for a second car if you need it for visitors.
Some of the sunsets here are spectacular and, since there are no street lights in Compton Martin, the night skies are relatively dark. The Milky Way is often visible and you might be treated to shooting stars. You will, however, need a torch to find your way home from the pub on dark nights...
Doggy guests are welcome provided their owners are happy that the front door opens out onto The Coombe.
It is a dead end, but traffic does pass the house to reach the dwellings further up the hill.
I do specificlly ask that they aren't allowed upstairs or on the furniture - the dogs, that is, not their owners.
The spiral staircase up to the bedroom isn't for everyone. I will trust your judgement and bookings are accepted on the basis that you've given this due consideration!
